The World Health Organization describes stress as the “global health epidemic of the 21st century”. […] Since the pace and intensity of contemporary work culture are not likely to change, it’s more important than ever to build resilience skills to effectively navigate your worklife.
Harvard Business Review, June 2016
It is the responsibility of every organisation to actively invest in our people and in workplace wellbeing.
As the recently launched Mental Health at Work initiative demonstrates, poor mental health in the workplace is a widespread concern, with half (48 per cent) of all people surveyed saying they have experienced a mental health problem in their current job.
We need to take action.
By investing in people – their development and wellbeing – we show that they are valued and respected.
Research shows that by building resilient workplaces, developing resilient leaders, teams and individuals, and creating a positive working atmosphere, we can not just improve the degree to which staff feel valued and respected but increase staff engagement, productivity, and retention.

Full of enthusiasm, Pam is an interactive and engaging speaker. Pam came to talk to a group of insurance students at our local insurance institute annual presentation celebrating their qualification successes. Throughout the session on building resilience, she had us laughing, thinking, and reflecting on parts of our lives, encouraging us to get involved but always making us feel safe. We had great feedback from our members and are already in talks with Pam to do more sessions for us!Sarah Deacon, Divisional Director at Willis Re and Immediate Past President of the Insurance Institute of Ipswich, Suffolk and North Essex
I met Pam for the first time this week when she came to deliver a 1 day workshop to my team around Building Resilience.
The session was delivered beautifully by Pam. Her open and warm approach brought the best out of the team and enabled them to all be honest and start to understand the importance of building their resilience, and what practical techniques they can use both professionally and personally.
We all learnt an awful lot about each other and ourselves, and it was a fantastic reminder of how important self-care is.
We will be continuing our journey as a team and will definitely be using Pam again in the future. Thanks Pam!Claire Lee, Head of NPD at Quorn Foods
One of the things I enjoyed most about was the structure of the course and your patience. You managed to engage each and every one of us, in spite of how different we all are.
Pam was a great presenter and trainer and really kept me engaged throughout the course.
Great workshop – catered for all levels and focused on what is important and practical.
The workshops were great – really engaging and interesting and I thought that the tasks that we completed were great fun. The size of the groups was great and allowed us to have some very interesting, honest conversations. Some of the things that I learnt during the session will particularly help me in future presentations (I particularly liked the superhero pose) and I found that the way you spoke to/engaged with us was all great. I would definitely be interested in spending more time with you and would love to take part in another of your workshops!Sky Mobile Team – Presentation Skills workshops
Pam ran a session with the Buckinghamshire tennis county age group captains. None of the team had met Pam before but from the onset she was approachable, warm, friendly and very open minded. It was an interactive session: we worked in small groups, shared ideas and Pam helped collate those ideas and to find solutions rather than problems. We all certainly came away from the session feeling like we had a few more tools to use on and off the tennis court helping players and parents to build more resilience. Hopefully we will have another session in the near future.Jemima King – U18 Bucks Girls Tennis Captain and Senior Performance Coach, Everyball Tennis and Halton Tennis Centre
